Programme For The Day - Thursday 4th July 2019 (9.30-16.30)

Aims:  To revisit briefly the theory underlying dynamic assessment, build upon existing skills, consider some of the key underpinning concepts and approaches, look at some materials used in dynamic assessment (DA), and consider issues relating to putting DA into practice, including feedback and report writing.  Includes looking at video footage and real-life cases.
Approximate times:
9.00-9.30  Arrival, registration and tea/coffee
9.30-9.45  Introduction and outline of the day.  Aims and objectives. 
9.45-10.15  Small group discussion/activity: Why should I use dynamic assessment?
10.15-11.00  Brief look at background theory and concepts underlying dynamic assessment
11.00-11.15  Tea/Coffee 

11.15-12.00  Moving from theory to practice: Considering mediated learning in detail
12.00-12-30  Introduction to the text book: Improving Learning Through Dynamic Assessment: A Practical Classroom Resource (by F. Lauchlan & D. Carrigan)

12.30-1.30  Lunch
1.30-2.45  Case study 1: John*.  Video footage and discussion, using the text book as a guide.
2.45-3.00  Tea/Coffee
3.00-4.00  Using non-standard (‘off the shelf’) materials dynamically. Video footage and discussion, using the text book as a guide.
4.00-4.30  Small group discussion: Where to go from here? What can I take from the training into my everyday practice? What are realistic targets?
